London Irish ran in 10 tries during a comprehensive 70-14 win over Rovigo in the final European Rugby Challenge Cup game of the first round.

They laid down an early marker in Pool One, in which Cardiff Blues beat Grenoble 37-14 yesterday.

Irish, currently sitting ninth in the Aviva Premiership, had ealed the bonus point before the break thanks to a Topsy Ojo hat-trick and a score from Myles Dorrian.

After heading into the break leading 28-0, they added six more tries in the second half with Luke Mahoney and Andrea de Marchi crossing for the Italians.

Eoin Griffin marked his Exiles debut by touching down for Irish soon after the break and he was followed over the whitewash by Leo Halavatau, Kieran Low, Tom Guest, Dan Leo and James Short.

Short had earlier been sin-binned while Rovigo's Guglielmo Zanini also spent time in the bin.

Dorrian delivered a flawless kicking display by converting all 10 Irish tries while both Rovigo scores were also converted, the first by Stefan Basson and the second by David Farolini.
