Wales international Leigh Halfpenny will miss the upcoming two-match Test series against Argentina following a knee injury.

The 32-year-old sustained the blow during the game against Canada last weekend where he was replaced in the opening minute. Incidentally, it was also the 32-year-old's 100th international game having played 96 for Wales and four for British and Irish Lions.

A statement released by the Welsh Rugby Union revealed that Halfpenny will undergo a surgery and will be undergoing rehabilitation.

"Mixed emotions right now, not how I hoped it would go but a special day running out for my country to play my 100th international test.

"It's always a huge honour to put on the Wales and Lions jerseys and have had some incredible memories in both, which I feel extremely grateful for.

"It was extra special to have our home fans and my family back in the stands and congratulations to all the new caps. Thank you for all the kind messages"

Meanwhile, uncapped Dragons centre Aneurin Owen has been added to the squad as Halfpenny's replacement.

The two-match series against Argentina will be played on 10th and 17th July at Principality Stadium.
