Waratahs have confirmed that Australia international Karmichael Hunt has been re-signed for the upcoming 2020 Super Rugby season.

Hunt, who featured for Queensland Reds previously joined Waratahs in 2019 but his participation was hampered by injuries. A knee injury limited his participation in both Super Rugby and National Rugby Championship but has now been declared fit ahead of the new season.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity the Waratahs gave me to play Super Rugby [in 2019] and the care and support provided by my teammates and everyone within the organisation,” he told the official website of the club.

“My family and I are happy in New South Wales and the environment at the Waratahs is a huge part of that, it’s a place that’s been great for me both professionally and personally.

“We’ve got a good young squad of guys that I’m looking forward to playing alongside, sharing some of my experiences with and contributing to their development [in 2020].

“Next season is a new challenge for all of us, it’s exciting and I can’t wait to get started.”

The 33-year-old also played six times for Wallabies with all of it coming in 2017 and has also represented them in the rugby league 11 times between 2006 and 2008.

Waratahs will kick-start the 2020 Super Rugby season with a clash against Crusaders at Trafalgar Park on 1st February.
