Sale Sharks centre Johnny Leota has been suspended for two weeks by the Rugby Football Union after he was sanctioned for a dangerous tackle during the Aviva Premiership game last week.

The Samoa international tackled Bath wing Aled Brew off the ball and was sin-binned at the closing stage of the game held at the Recreation Ground.

The 32-year-old's charges were proved when he appeared before the RFU disciplinary panel which comprised of Anthony Davies, John Greenwood and Adrian Senn in Haydock on Tuesday.

He will now miss Sale Sharks' first two rounds of the European Champions Cup fixtures against Scarlets and Toulon.
