Bath Rugby have announced that Johann van Graan will take over as director of rugby of the Gallagher Premiership club ahead of the 20222/23 season.

Van Graan's appointment was confirmed by Bath in December with the 42-year-old five-year association with Munster coming to an end at the conclusion of the 2021/22 season during which the Irish province went on to reach two European Champions Cup semi-finals and last season's Pro14 final.

Van Graan will concentrate on the coaching and performances of the team and will oversee all coaching and performance staff while current director of rugby Stuart Hooper will take over general manager role.

“These roles are confirmed ahead of our final game of the season against Worcester Warriors, and as we ready ourselves for the 2022/23 season," Bath chief executive Tarquin McDonald.

"This reset will provide the foundations for a revival for the club over the coming seasons.”

The club also confirmed that Edward Griffiths, who became the Bath's chairman in December will be leaving the club after he undertook an in-season review of the club’s rugby programme in November 2021.

“We thank Edward for all he has done in helping our club to refocus," said Bath owner Bruce Craig.

"He has brought expertise, knowledge and experience, and he leaves the club in a significantly stronger position. I will continue to support the club as we move forward.”
