Jacques Nienaber acknowledges that Leinster must address several areas for improvement if they aim to challenge Toulouse in the Investec Champions Cup final.

Having secured their place in the final for the third consecutive time, Leinster overcame a late resurgence from Northampton Saints to clinch a 20-17 victory at Croke Park last Saturday.

Before their encounter with the five-time European champions on May 25th in London, they have two rounds of URC matches against Ospreys and Ulster.

Led by a James Lowe hat-trick and a standout performance from scrum-half Jamison Gibson-Park, Leinster found themselves with a commanding 20-3 lead with 22 minutes remaining.

However, the English league leaders managed to score two converted tries, narrowly missing out on a remarkable comeback.

"The whole world will know we were in control for 60 minutes," Nienaber told RTÉ Sport.

"We had good control of the game and then obviously with the quality of opposition that we had, you can see why they are the top Premiership team currently; they kept coming at us and we had to finish out the game in the last eight minutes or so.

"Some of it, we did really well, some of it we could have done better. That's probably the take-home.

"From our view there is lots to work on going into the final. But we’re not thinking about the final just yet.

"I said to the lads that if we lift our heads up too high and start looking at the horizon we might fall over the obstacle right in front of your face."

The final of the Champions Cup will be played at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 25th May.
