Ireland centre Robbie Henshaw is doubtful for the upcoming Rugby World Cup encounter against Scotland following an injury.

Henshaw was absent for a training session on Wednesday following a niggle and will be assessed on Thursday to find the extent of the damage.

"Robbie has a bit of a niggle and we're finding out about that today," Ireland forwards coach Paul O'Connell said at a press conference this morning.

"I'm sure there'll be some information on that tomorrow."

Nevertheless, Andy Farrell will be relieved to have the services of James Ryan as he returned to training following a hand injury.

Ireland are at second place in Pool B table with 14 points from three games and will secure a berth in the quarter-final provided they win or draw or secure a bonus point in the game against Scotland on Saturday.
