Hurricanes came up with a seven try performance as they trounced Chiefs 47-19 in their Super Rugby clash at Westpac Stadium on Saturday.

Hurricanes now have consolidated their second position in New Zealand Conference with 32 points while Chiefs are languishing at the bottom after losing three from 10 games.

Jordie Barrett provided a head start to Hurricanes with back to back tries in the fourth and seventh minute while Beauden kicked both the conversions to make it 14-0.

The home side tripled their tally by the 17th minute as Kane Leaupepe dotted that was improved by Beauden before the Chiefs hit back with tries from Luke Jacobson (24') and Ataata Moeakiola (29') as they reduced the gap to nine points but Hurricanes went on to claim the bonus point before the break with their fourth try coming from TJ Perenara in the 32nd minute.

Lachlan Boshier helped Chiefs get off the block early in the second half when he crossed over narrowing the gap down to nine points but further tries from Wes Goosen (50'), Ardie Savea (55') and Salesi Rayasi (74') ensured Hurricanes completed a 28 point victory.
