Highlanders continued their four-match winning streak as they defeated Sunwolves 40-15 in their Super Rugby clash at Rugby Park on Saturday.

A third minute try from Malakai Fekitoa followed by a conversion from Marty Banks took them to an early lead which was cut down to four points following a penalty from Sunwolves fly half Yu Tamura in the 11th minute.

However, Liam Squire and Aaron Smith ensured Highlanders had the momentum heading into half time with their respective tries as they claimed a 18 point lead.

The aggression continued from Highlanders at the start of the second half as Matt Faddes crossed over twice followed by another touchdown from Ben Smith. With a double conversion from Banks, Highlanders had a intimidating scoreline of 40-3.

Number eight Willie Britz and replacement Rahboni Warren-Vosayaco provided some respite for Sunwolves with their tries in the 58th and 64th minutes but they succumbed to a 25 point defeat.

Despite, the win Highlanders are at fourth in New Zealand Conference while they seventh defeat for Sunwolves meant they continue to languish at the bottom of Africa 1 Conference.
