Glasgow Warriors hooker George Turner has been handed a four-week suspension following his yellow-card incident in the recently concluded European Champions Cup encounter against Montpellier at Scotstoun Stadium.

The 25-year-old was sin-binned for an off-the-ball shoulder charge to the back of Louis Picamoles in the 27th minute of the game and it proved costly for the Scottish regional side as they went on to lose the game with a 22-29 margin that puts them on the brink of elimination.

Turner was cited following a breach of Law 10.4 (f), which concerns "playing an opponent without the ball" and appeared before a three-man disciplinary panel in London on Wednesday where he pleaded guilty.

Turner, who has scored four tries this season, will miss the return game with Montpellier this weekend as well as the double-header with Edinburgh over the festive period.

Glasgow Warriors are currently at the bottom of Pool 4 after losing all the three games - a complete contrast to their performances in the Pro 14 where they registered 10 straight victories.

Meanwhile, head coach Dave Rennie has replaced Sam Johnson with Grant Stewart in the squad for Saturday's match in France.
