France head coach Fabien Galthie has confirmed that Toulouse back-rower Anthony Jelonch following an injury.

The 27-year-old sustained a ruptured knee ligament during the Investec Champions Cup game against Bath Rugby on Sunday which they went on to win 31-19.

Despite the setback, Jelonch managed to recover before the tournament and earned a spot in the squad, ultimately participating in four out of France's five games. He also captained the side in the absence of Antonie Dupont apart from leading the side during the 2021 summer tour of Australia.

"We wish him the best," Galthie told reporters about Jelonch.

"We're really disappointed for him. We will miss him," the former France captain added.

His position in the squad has been filled by his club teammate, the 26-year-old Alexandre Roumat, who is yet to be capped at the international level.

France will kick start their upcoming Six Nations campaign with a clash against Ireland on 2nd February at Stade Velodrome.
