France name Mathieu Bastareuad as captain for Six Nations game against Wales

France have confirmed Mathieu Bastareaud as the captain for the final round of the Six Nations Championship clash against Wales.

The decision follows after regular skipper Guilhem Guirado misses out on the game due to a knee injury and his place in the side Adrien Pelissie. Though, Guirado will remain with the squad as they prepare in Cardiff to take on Warren Gatland's side.

Bastareaud missed the first two games of the Championship due to a ban but impressed on his return in the next two games where France registered 34-17 and 22-16 victories over Italy and England respectively.

Hugo Bonneval misses out after suffering a head injury and has been replaced by Gael Fickou.

Wales are currently positioned second in the table with 11 points while France at at fourth with 10 points.

France squad to face Wales: Benjamin Fall; Gael Fickou, Mathieu Bastareuad (capt), Geoffrey Doumayrou, Remy Grosso; Francois Trinh-Duc, Maxime Machenaud; Jefferson Poirot, Adrien Pelissie, Cetade Gomes Sa, Sebastien Vahamaahina, Wenceslas Lauret, Yacouba Camara, Marc Tauleigne.

Replacements: Camille Chat, Dany Priso, Rabah Slimani, Bernard Le Roux, Mathieu Babillot, Baptiste Couilloud, Lionel Beauxis, Geoffrey Palis.
