England captain Owen Farrell will have to wait until Tuesday to learn about his fate ahead of the Rugby World Cup opener against Argentina following his recent red-card incident.

Farrell was initially yellow carded for a high tackle on Taine Basham at the start of the final quarter which was later upgraded to a red card by the ‘Bunker’ review system.

He will now face a a video disciplinary hearing that begins on Tuesday to know the extent of suspension.

The 31-year-old had a three-game ban for a similar offence in January and the mid-range sanction for the dangerous tackle is six week suspension which puts a doubt about his participation in the opening phase of the World Cup which kicks-off in France next month.

England are set to face Ireland and Fiji in the warm-up matches before they kick-off their campaign in the showpiece event with a clash against Argentina in Marseille on 9th September.

Meanwhile, George Ford, who landed the decisive penalty goal to seal the win for England in the Twickenham game against Wales said Farrell has the full backing of the team.

"He is huge for us, he is the captain and the way he drives things every day is unbelievable," said Ford to Amazon Prime.

"We will get around him whatever the situation and whatever the outcome is."
