Australia international Dean Mumm has retired from professional rugby with immediate effect.

The decision comes after the 33-year-old played in his final game of the ongoing Super Rugby season for his club Waratahs where they were thrashed 40-11 by Force.

Mumm made his professional rugby debut for Waratahs in 2007 and later switched to Aviva Premiership side Exeter Chiefs in 2012 and has featured in 70 games for the English club. Mumm was also named as the captain of the Sandy Park outfit during the 2013/14 season.

The second rower scored a try in Exeter Chiefs' 15-8 win over Northampton Saints in the final of the Anglo-Welsh Cup in 2014. In 2015, he returned back to Australia for his club Waratahs.

Mumm went on to social media platform Instagram to confirm the news on his retirement.

"That's a wrap!! Thank you for the nice messages.

"It's been a tremendous privilege to be able to represent some great teams over my time and an honour to do it with some of the greats along the way."

Mumm has played 57 Tests for Australia since his debut that came in June 2008 and his last appearance for Wallabies came in December 2016.
