Eddie Jones has admitted he has been pleased by Danny Cipriani’s attitude throughout England’s tour of South Africa with the versatile back aiming to be involved in Saturday’s third and final Test.

The Springboks clinched the series last weekend after a 23-12 win in Bloemfontein, which means England have now lost their last five Test matches and they will be looking to halt their poor form at Newlands.

Last weekend, Cipriani came off the bench to make his first England test appearance for just under three years and the Gloucester back has impressed Jones during their time in South Africa.

Speaking to Sky Sports’ Gail Davis, Jones said: "I've been impressed by him. I'm impressed by George Ford and I'm impressed by Alex Lozowski. They're all guys that are really working hard to get into the team.

"The thing that's impressed me about Danny is his attitude towards working hard and wanting to be part of the team."

Following the defeat in the second Test, the England head coach told BBC Sport’s Chris Jones: “We’ve got 25 players sitting at home that aren’t available for selection, these are the best players we’ve got”, but the Australian did reveal one player he regrets not being able to pick.

He added: "I think we've missed all of those (unavailable) players. Certainly against South Africa a player like Courtney Lawes would have been invaluable.

"We understand that results aren't great and we're all disappointed by that. But in terms of moving forward, we're in a good position."

After losing just one of 26 matches under Jones following his appointment at the conclusion of 2015 the Rugby World Cup, England are now in a slump and on Saturday, they will be searching for their first victory since February when they beat Wales in the Six Nations at Twickenham.

“We’ve got a young team here – we’ve been averaging 400 caps per game,” Jones added.

“It’s all about just trying to give them as much confidence as we can and trying to get them to understand there are going to be big moments in the game – and we need to play those big moments a little bit better than we have.”
