Scorecard

Luke Cowan-Dickie scored hat-trick of tries while Lachie Turner contributed with a double as Exeter Chiefs registered their first win of the Aviva Premiership season defeating Harlequins 36-25.

After an early try by Turner in the sixth minute, fly-half Tim Swiel managed to bring Harlequins back in the lead with back-to-back penalties.

Five minutes later, Cowan-Dickie went past Luke Wallace to score his first try of the game and three minutes, later Turner's second try added misery to Harlequins, who were staring down the battle. Gareth Steenson added conversion on both the occasions as Exeter Chiefs were leading 19-6 by the 20th minute.

Rob Buchanan made amends for his error in the lineout earlier scoring the first try for Harlequins in the match and Swiel's conversion reduced the gap to six points.

However, Exeter were relentless in their attack as Cowan-Dickie scored his second of the day followed by a conversion and penalty by Steenson to take the home side to a 29-13 score at the end of the first half.

It took the Chiefs only five more minutes in the second half to score their fifth try with Cowan-Dickie crossing over for the third time and Steenson's conversion meant, they were leading the game comfortably by 36-13.

Harlequins though reunited in the final quarter and scored two tries - one each by Danny Care and Charlie Walker to take the score to 36-25 with nine minutes left in the game.

Their chances of making a dramatic comeback brightened after replacement Tomas Francis was red-carded in the 72nd minute. However, Exeter held their ground firm and ensured there were no more chaos to complete a 36-25 victory, which took them to the sixth position in the table.
