Toulon have confirmed the signing of England international Ben Te'o on a short-term deal as a World Cup cover for the French club.

The former Worcester Warriors centre has already been left out of England's World Cup squad following an altercation with team-mate Mike Brown during the training camp in Treviso.

Even though England head coach Eddie Jones has not ruled out the inclusion of the 32-year-old in the squad for the showpiece event in Japan next month in the possibility of any injuries, Te'o has decided to move to the French club.

The 6ft 2in centre has featured in 20 Tests in the last three years with his last appearance coming during the Six Nations earlier this year.

Switching codes from rugby league to rugby union in 2014, Te'o has represented Leinster and Worcester Warriors in the past and also represented the British and Irish Lions in two Tests during the 2017 tour of New Zealand.

Te'o is expected to train with Toulon during their pre-season camp next week.
