Leicester Tigers have announced the signing of Australia international Izaia Perese ahead of the 2024/25 season on a multi-year agreement.

Born in Brisbane, the 26-year-old started his professional rugby career with Queensland in 2015 before making his Super Rugby debut with Reds a year later.

After making 17 Super Rugby appearances for the Reds, Perese switched codes to feature for rugby league side Brisbane Broncos before switching to the union joining Bayonne in 2020.

He moved back to Australia to join Waratahs ahead of the 2021 season and has three Australian caps to his name.

“My family and I are very excited to move to the UK and join Leicester Tigers," he told the club's official website.

“I am looking forward to embracing Leicester’s rugby culture and contribute to the club's legacy.

“We can’t wait for the journey ahead and the chance to create lasting connections with the lads & the community.”

Leicester Tigers head coach, Dan McKellar is pleased with the inclusion of Perese in the squad.

“Izzy’s a real point of difference player with footwork, power, and the ability to beat defenders.”

“He’s always had immense talent, but he’s added to that natural game with his defence, his effort areas and having worked with him in the Wallabies environment, I know he’s someone who will thrive playing at Mattioli Woods Welford Road.”

Leicester are positioned sixth in the Gallagher Premiership table with seven wins from 12 matches.
