Argentina continued to make progress in the World Rugby Rankings following their impressive win over New Zealand in the latest round of the Rugby Championship in Christchurch.

Having registered their first win over the All Blacks in 2020, the Pumas now have defeated them for the first time on New Zealand soil that saw them gain two places taking their tally to 82.95 pushing Scotland to eighth and Wales to ninth places.

Samisoni Taukei'aho and Caleb Clarke scored tries for the All Blacks but it did not prove enough as Juan Martin Gonzalez dotted down while Emiliano Boffelli kicked six penalties and a conversion.

The defeat saw New Zealand slip back to fifth position and now are 0.26 points behind fourth placed England.

Meanwhile, Australia's win over South Africa in Adelaide saw them climb one place to sixth, courtesy a double try effort from Fraser McReight and a touchdown from Marika Koroibete.

A late double from Kwagga Smith in the last five minutes did not prove enough for the Springboks as they went down 17-25. Despite the defeat, South Africa continue to remain at third place but the point difference over second placed France is now almost close to three points.

The fourth round of the Rugby Championship will see New Zealand hosting Argentina at FMG Stadium Waikato while Australia and South Africa will compete at Allianz Stadium with both the matches scheduled on 3rd September.
