Andrea Lo Cicero fears for Italy's chances ahead of 6 Nations

Ahead of Italy hosting Ireland in the Rome in the opening round of the 6 Nations, Land Rover has caught up with Italian rugby legend Andrea Lo Cicero to get his thoughts on the Championship.

With the wider context that Italy will sit in the same Pool as Ireland (and France) at Rugby World Cup 2015, Lo Cicero also assesses his nations chances at the Tournament.

Andrea Lo Cicero on…

 … the 6 Nations:

“The English are playing well, much better than the Irish, Scottish and Welsh.

“It’s not the best moment for the Italian side because there are many young players and [experienced] players but there’s not a good connection between the two.

Now every team is looking at the 6 Nations as the last game before Rugby World Cup 2015. It’s a big test for everybody. I hope the 6 Nations gives the [Italian] guys more confidence to go to Rugby World Cup 2015 and win.”

 … Rugby World Cup 2015:

“But it’s going to be tough for Italy. France are a team that take a lot of risks and can win very well or lose very badly! I think France will be first [in Pool D], and second Ireland. I don’t know for Italy because Romania are a very good team, with a lot of players in France and England. They could spring a surprise.

“I think the All Blacks are going to win the Tournament but the surprise could be England because they have the supporters at home and the All Blacks have a lot of pressure as World Champions.”

… the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour:

“The Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour is very important for communities to be able to see the Webb Ellis Cup.”

The video is the latest in the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour series. In each of the 15 destinations, Land Rover’s Least Driven Path has helped take the Trophy to remote communities, some of which have never experienced rugby, and given children at grassroots clubs the chance to see Rugby’s biggest prize as part of a celebration of the game in the lead up to Rugby World Cup 2015.
