After five rounds of National One action, there is now only one team in the division still undefeated as Birmingham Moseley’s winning start came to an end on Saturday.

Kevin Maggs’ side were beaten away at Ampthill which now leaves league leaders Hartpury as the only side who have won all five of their league games thus far this season.

Down at the bottom of the table, Fylde got their season up and running thanks to a victory over Esher while Rosslyn Park also secured their maiden triumph with a win over Darlington Mowden Park.

Coventry 23-27 Hartpury College

Hartpury College came from behind in the final 10 minutes to register a fifth consecutive bonus-point win thanks to this victory over Coventry.

But College were made to work extremely hard for the first hour before Junior World Cup winner Harry Randall scored the decisive try two minutes from the end.

Coventry led 23-17 after Rob Knox and Tom Jubb’s tries cancelled out Randall’s first effort as well as touch downs from Steve Leonard and Jonas Mikalcius.

However, Hartpury launched a series of powerful attacks late on and Randall darted over to score allowing Jacob Perry to add the extras before the fly-half wrapped up the win with a penalty in the latter stages of the game.

Ampthill & District 28-6 Birmingham Moseley

Birmingham Moseley’s unbeaten start to the season ended on Saturday as they fell to defeat away at Ampthill & District.

Peter Weightman and Maama Molitka scored first-half tries for the A’s as they took a 14-7 lead into the second period.

Mark Harrison’s score for Birmingham Moseley would prove to be their only try of the afternoon as Ampthill pulled clear after the break with Paino Herea and Stef Jones both dotting down to complete their fourth victory of the season.

Plymouth Albion 40-13 Old Albanian

Plymouth Albion ran in six tries at Brickfields as they thrashed the Old Albanian to move third in the National One table.

The hosts dominated the first half as tries for Chris May, Dan Williams, Matt Shepherd Nile Dacres Matt Crosscombe secured a 26-6 lead.

Shepherd heaped more misery on to the OA’s as he went over for his second before the visitors scored a consolation try through Morgan Thompson.

But, it was Albion who fittingly had the final say of the afternoon as Cameron Setter went up the blindside from 30 metres to round-off an excellent display for Dan Parkes’ side.

Hull Ionians 30-32 Blackheath

A late Leo Fielding penalty saw Blackheath snatch the victory at Brantingham Park against Hull Ionians to extend their winning run to four matches.

Alistair Thompson, Steve Slingsby and Sam Wilson crossed to give the hosts a 27-22 half-time lead, with Tom Baldwin, Mark Cooke and Chris Knight scoring for Club.

Knight’s second try put Blackheath 29-27 up before a Liam Millar penalty gave the hosts a one point advantage with four minutes remaining.

But Blackheath hit back and despite Fielding missing the conversion for Knight’s second try, he kept his cool to slot over the vital penalty which sealed the win for his side.

Rosslyn Park 36-16 Darlington Mowden Park

Rosslyn Park picked up their first win of the season as they battled to victory against an in-form Darlington Mowden Park side.

Four Scott Sneddon penalties for Rosslyn made it 12-6 at the break.

But Santiago Socino’s fine try and a third penalty from Caolan Ryan reduced the deficit to just a point, but the introduction of scum-half Rory Brand was the turning point for the hosts.

He scored a brace to give his side the lead once again in this contest before Rosslyn scored once again from close range. Callum Mackenzie went over late on for Mowden Park, but it was merely a consolation as Rosslyn Park claimed their maiden victory.

Cambridge 35-34 Lougborough Students

Cambridge clinched their first home victory over the season in dramatic fashion as Jack Green’s last-gasp conversion earned them an unlikely win over Loughborough Students.

A hat-trick from Gair Currie had helped Loughborough build up a 34-14 lead with just over 10 minutes remaining as Students punished Cambridge’s fragile defence.

However, the Blood and Sand were ready to mount a comeback and it began when Jake McCloud crossed for his second try of the afternoon.

Moments after the restart, Chris Leathem ghosted down the left hand side to score and it looked like Cambridge had earnt themselves a bonus point.

Cambridge came back at a tiring Loughborough side again straight from kick-off and Mike Ayrton was the man who burst over the line to leave Ross Stewart’s side just a point behind with the final kick of the game to go.

And it was Green who stepped up and stayed composed to complete a sensational comeback for Cambridge.

Blaydon 24-24 Macclesfield

Bladyon came back from 19 points down at half-time to snatch a draw at home to Macclesfield.

Blaydon crossed inside the first 10 minutes to up them in front but quick-fire tries from Ryan Parkinson, Max Smith (2) and Tom Eaton saw Macclesfield lead 24-5 at half-time.

After the break, tries from Jack Beckwith and Robbie Kalbraier got Blaydon back into this contest heading into the final stages of this match and six minutes from time, Tom Grimes levelled the match.

Neither side was able to create enough to find a late winner in what was a highly entertaining game in the north-east.

Fylde 26-20 Esher

Connor Wilkinson scored a brace as Fylde beat Esher to secure their first win of the 2016/17 season.

Esher went ahead early on thanks to a Tom James try, but it was Fylde who led at half-time as Tom Burtonwood’s effort and Wilkinson’s first score of the day gave the hosts a 12-10 advantage.

Jordan Dorrington stretched Fylde’s lead 12 minutes into the second period as he glided past the Esher defence before Wilkinson grabbed his second to put the Lancashire side in control of this contest.

Back came Esher as Spencer Sutherland crossed in the 59th minute before James set up a nervous finish with his second try six minutes from the end, but Fylde held their own despite late pressure
