Wellington Rugby Union, reigning New Zealand National 7s champions, have included a number of the world champions All Black 7s stars in an extended 29-man training squad ahead of October's Central Coast 7s.

The 29-man squad will be trimmed to a 12-man squad ahead of the tour of Australia, where Wellington will start as the number one ranked side in the star-studded tournament.

Lote Raikabula and Ambrose Curtis are among the All Black 7s named in Wellington's squad.

"Wellington have been allocated the number one ranking as the New Zealand National Sevens Champions and rightfully start as favourites for the tournament," Craig Morgan, tournament director said.

"No doubt Wellington are coming here to win as are all the teams who will all come with their strongest possible line-ups, we are bracing for the most exciting and explosive tournament yet."

Wellington will be joined by international, national and club champions from Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Japan, Brazil, Malaysia, Canada and USA.

This tournament is one of the most high profile played in Australia outside of the international world series and is another opportunity for sevens rugby to make the headlines ahead of the sport making its Olympic debut in Rio in 2016.

The 2014 Fitness First CC7s will be played on 24th, 25th and 26th October.
