England have received a much needed boost ahead of their fourth round Six Nations game against Ireland with both Alex Mitchell and Marcus Smith returning to the matchday squad.

Mitchell missed out on the Calcutta Cup defeat against Scotland due to a knee injury but now has recovered to start at scrum-half with Danny Care dropping to the bench on what is set to be his 100th Test appearance.

Immanuel Feyi-Waboso gets his first Test start after scoring a try coming off the bench in the game against Scotland as he is slotted at right wing with Tommy Freeman moving to left and Elliot Daly dropping to the bench.

Henry Slade and Ollie Lawrence have retained their midfield combination while George Ford continues to start at fly-half with Smith successfully recovering from a calf injury to provide cover from the bench on what is set to become his first appearance of the campaign.

The other change sees Steve Borthwick promoting George Martin to the second row alongside Maro Itoje as Ollie Chessum shifts to the back row joining Sam Underhill and Ben Earl. Alex Dombrandt, who hasn't been capped since August last year is named on the bench.

"As always, we've selected what we think is our strongest 23 to leave us best-placed to win the game," said Borthwick.

"Ireland are without doubt currently one of the best teams in the world, and we'll have to be at our very best against them on Saturday.

"We've prepared well for what will be another classic Six Nations game at Twickenham."
