Guinness PRO12 bottom side Benetton Treviso ended Cardiff's winning run with a 13-7 victory, their first of the season.

Going into the game, the Welsh side were on a run of four straight wins but instead of setting a new club record, they went down to a team that had failed to win any of their first 13 matches of the season.

The last time Treviso won in the PRO12 was also against Cardiff, back in February last year.

A penalty try and eight points from the boot of Jayden Hayward were enough for them to repeat the trick.

Blaine Scully's first-half try was converted by Rhys Patchell but that was all Cardiff could muster.

Two Hayward penalties put the home side ahead before United States international Scully crossed and Patchell converted to put the Blues ahead at the break.

Seven minutes into the second half, Cardiff conceded a penalty try for pulling down the scrum and it proved decisive.

That score and the conversion from Hayward were the only points scored in the second half as Treviso ended a run of 20 successive defeats.
