Scorecard

Brumbies came with a six-try performance as they held off Rebels 39-26 in their Super Rugby clash at GIO Stadium on Friday.

Irae Simone provided a promising start to Brumbies as he made most of the pass from Scott Sio to touchdown in the fifth minute and Noah Lolesio followed with the conversion to make it 7-0.

Simone turned provider in the second try as he sent a perfect offload to Thomas Bank, who went over the line in the 12th minute while the hosts soon dominated the proceedings with further tries from Thomas Cuasack (25') and Solomone Kata (28') taking their first half tally to 24 points.

Just at the stroke of half-time, Rebels got their first points on the board with Angus Cottrell crossing the whitewash while conversion from Matt Toomua reduced their trail to 17 points.

Cottrell with his second further reduced the visitors' deficit to 10 points and it remained the same by the end of the third quarter when Folau Fainga'a and Dane Haylett-Petty traded tries.

A 66th minute drop goal from Lolesio and a try from Tom Wright made the scoreline 39-21 before Frank Lomani's late try helped Rebels reduce losing margin to 13 points.
