Exeter Chiefs Women have announced the signing of Scottish international Mairi MacDonald.

Appleby is expected to provide cover at scrum-half to the side with Claudia MacDonald on rest break after returning from World Cup while Brooke Bradley is sidelined by a hamstring injury.

Having represented Scotland nine times previously, Appleby played for Hillhead Jordanhill and helped them to the Scottish title in 2017/18. She also has the experience of featuring for Scotland 7s side in the past.

Exeter Chiefs Women’s head coach Susie Appleby expressed delight in the signing of MacDonald.

“We’re delighted to have Mairi on board. She’s very energetic, very quick and has very good distribution," said Appleby to the club's official website.

"I’ve no doubt she will be a great addition to the squad and will bring plenty in terms of both quality and experience.”
