Scotland have added centre Matt Scott to the squad for the upcoming Japan tour as a replacement for Alex Dunbar, who was ruled out for the remainder of the season owing to a knee injury.

Dunbar sustained the injury on the 13th minute of Glasgow Warriors' game against Connacht in Galway.

Although he won't require a surgery, Dunbar will commence his recovery period with his club's medical team.

Warriors head coach Gregor Townsend expressed his disappointment at losing his centre who played an important role in helping his side reach the Pro12 play-offs and wished him a speedy recovery.

"We're disappointed for Alex that his season has been cut short through injury.

"He had been playing very well and played a big role in getting us into the Guinness Pro12 play-offs.

"We wish him all the best with his rehab and we look forward to him returning to training ahead of the new season."

Scott will join his national teammates at the BT Murrayfield Stadium on 6th of June for a brief camp before leaving for Tokyo five days later.

The two-Test series has been scheduled on consecutive Saturdays with the 1st game due to be played at the Toyota Stadium in Toyota City on the 18th June whereas the second game has been scheduled at the Ajinomoto Stadium in Tokyo on 25th June.
