Wales 12-13 Georgia, Principality Stadium

Luka Matkava scored the decisive penalty goal in the closing stage as Georgia stunned Wales with a 13-12 victory at Principality Stadium on Saturday.

With less than a year to go for the World Cup, Wales now have lost to Italy and now Georgia, putting a lot of pressure on Wayne Pivac's role. Meanwhile, Georgia, who had defeated earlier has further strengthened their chance of staking a claim in the Six Nations tournament.

Abzhandadze scored the opening points of the game with a second minute penalty goal but the hosts soon found the groove as Adam Beard and Ben Carter combined to help Jac Morgan complete his first international try and Rhys Priestland followed with the conversion to make it 7-3.

Pivac's side further extended their lead as George North, Alex Cuthbert and Tomos Williams laid the work for Morgan's second try but this time Priestland's conversion went wide with the scoreline becoming 12-3.

Wales thought they had their third try as Tomos Williams sent a chip which Josh Adams collected and sprinted forward but it went in vain as the scrum-half's pass was deemed forward with the teams completing the first half with a 12-3 scoreline

Wales were down to 14 players temporarily with Cuthbert sin-binned for a dangerous tackle on Alexander Todua and soon Georgia made use of the numerical advantage with Todua crossing over after collecting a chip from Abzhandadze, who also landed the extras to narrow down the gap to two points.

Abzhandadze had a chance to put Georgia ahead but his penalty kick went wide and shortly Morgan thought he had completed his hat-trick but Taulupe Faletau had knocked on in the build up. Nevertheless, as the game entered the final few minutes, Matkava with his long-range penalty kick ensured Georgia stunned Wales with a thrilling victory.
