Scotland international Mark Bennett has been sidelined for up to a year after undergoing a surgery on his knee.

The 24-year-old sustained the blow during the Six Nations clash against England in the 21st minute when he suffered a anterior cruciate ligament tear.

The surgery which needs nine to 12 months of rehabilitation period will end his current stint with Glasgow Warriors as he is due to join Edinburgh next season.

Meanwhile back-row Josh Strauss, who suffered a kidney injury during the clash against France will be needing another six weeks to return to action, also bringing an end to his association with Glasgow Warriors.

Glasgow head coach Gregor Townsend expressed disappointment that both the players had to sign off from the club with injuries.

"We're disappointed that Mark's time at the club has come to an end in this way, and it also looks like Josh may not play for us again as he continues his graduated return to training.

"We wish both players all the best with their rehab and look forward to having them as part of our wider group for the remainder of the season."
