Fly-half Alex Lozowski contributed with 20 points as Saracens overcame a late surge from Newcastle Falcons to win the Aviva Premiership encounter by 27-35 at Kingston Park on Sunday.

Newcastle Falcons scrum half Tane Takulua kicked two penalties in the first 10 minutes but it was Saracens, who took the lead with Lozowski adding a three-pointer and a touchdown from Mike Rhodes.

Lozowski showed his brilliance in the remainder of the first half as he scored his second penalty and followed it with a converted try to take the visitors to 6-18 lead at half time.

Chris Ashton continued his try scoring form in the second half when he crossed over in the 51st minute but Newcastle centre Dominic Waldouck raised the hopes when he replied back with a try of his own five minutes later.

As the game was approaching the final quarter, Saracens had a lead of 10 points, but Lozowski second converted try followed by another touchdown from replacement Nathan Earle ensured Saracens won the game despite Newcastle Falcons managing two tries in the final five minutes through Vereniki Goneva and David Wilson.

The game also saw England international Billy Vunipola making a successful comeback for Saraces.

Saracens continue to remain third in the table with 58 points from 17 games while Newcastle Falcons are positioned eighth.
