Worcester Valkyries have confirmed hooker Lark Davies as the captain of the club for the inaugural edition of 2017/18 Tyrrell's Premier 15s that kicks-off on 16th September.

The 21-year-old played 17 times for the club spread across all the competitions in the previous season and is now looking forward to the new challenge of leading the side.

"My involvement with Worcester from a young age has made this captaincy a great personal achievement," said Lark.

"I feel that my knowledge of the Club puts me in a great position to represent and be the figurehead of the players both on and off the field.

"It's a huge honour to be chosen to captain Worcester Valkyries and I'm really excited for the new season ahead of us.”

Worcester Valkyries director of rugby Roy Davies lavished praise on Lark and is confident that her experience will help the club achieve success in the new women's competition.

"I'm delighted that Lark accepted my offer to captain the side and I look forward to working with her to develop the Valkyries' culture and values.

"She has excellent leadership qualities and is an outstanding role model for our young squad.

"She is a local girl who has grown into a key figure at the Club and has gained international honours.

"Since joining the Club I've been really impressed with Lark's rugby understanding, knowledge and the way she articulates that to others.

"Most importantly, I know she works hard, leads from the front and will hold herself accountable to the same high standards that she expects from others.”

Worcester Valkyries will begin their Tyrrell's Premier 15s campaign with a clash against Loughborough Lightning on Saturday.
