Italy international Jake Polledri is set to miss his side's upcoming Six Nations game against Ireland following a shoulder injury.

The 27-year-old sustained the injury during Italy's game against England which they went on to lose 14-31.

Polledri complained of shoulder pain following the game and now is expected to undergo a surgery to address the issue.

“The prognosis of the injury and the duration of his recovery will be assessed on the basis of the outcome of surgery,” the FIR added.

The game against England was also Polledri’s first appearance for the Azzurri since November 2020.

Italy are positioned fifth in the Six Nations table after losing both their matches in the competition until now.
