Six Nations organisers have shortlisted 12 candidates for the Player of the Championship award following the 2017 edition of the tournament.

The list includes three members from the title winning England squad - centre Owen Farrell, lock Joe Launchbury and flanker Maro Itoje. Farrell had 12 conversions and 13 penalty kicks in this season, amassing 63 points in total from the five games.

Meanwhile, Scotland fullback Stuart Hogg, who scored three tries in the first two games is in line to win his second successive title and has been nominated along with his team-mate Finn Russell.

Ireland, who managed to end England's 18-match winning streak and also denied them a Grand Slam will have two representatives in scrum-half Conor Murray and flanker CJ Stander.

Wales scrum-half Rhys Webb and hooker Ken Owens, France pair Louis Picamoles and Camille Lopez and Italy skipper Sergio Parisse are the other nominees.

The winner will be decided by a public voting on the official website of Six Nations with 12:00 GMT on Tuesday being the deadline.

The award which was introduced in 2004 was dominated by former Ireland captain Brian O'Driscoll, who won it three times while Hogg, Mike Brown and Leigh Halfpenny have also won one time each.
