Glasgow Warriors prop Zander Fagerson is set to be on the sidelines after undergoing a surgery on his ankle following the recently concluded Pro14 encounter against Cheetahs.

The 22-year-old was forced off the field in the second half of the game in Bloemfontein which the Warriors went on to win 24-52 and after a consultation with a specialist, he underwent a surgery in South Africa.

"Thanks for all the messages last night.Tough game against a physical Cheetah side and stoked for the lads to get the win," he tweeted.

"Unfortunately I picked up a knock so I’ll be sidelined for a while but I’ll bounce back. Massive thanks to all the medical staff who helped yesterday

A statement released by Glasgow stated that Fagerson's recovery period will be decided in due course of time.

Meanwhile, Stuart Hogg, who sustained an ankle injury during the game against Munster has also been released from the squad for further rehabilitation.

Glasgow Warriors are at top of Conference A table in the ongoing season of Pro14 after winning all the three games and will face Southern Kings next at Nelson Mandela Metro Uni on 22nd September.
