Exeter have announced that fly-half Gareth Steenson has agreed a new three-year contract with the Aviva Premiership club.

Steenson's deal will keep him at Sandy Park until 2018. He joined Exeter from Cornish Pirates in 2008 and has amassed more than 1,500 points for the Chiefs.

"' Steeno' has improved over a period because he has gained more and more experience in the Premiership and in Europe, and those experiences are vital in creating a top-quality player," Exeter head coach Rob Baxter said.

And Steenson, 30, added: " I am absolutely over the moon with the new deal. You can see where the club are going, and it's great to be part of it all.

"I suppose I'm one of the veterans in the squad, but to be part of all this not only now, but for the next three years as well, is just fantastic."
