England women move step closer to Six Nations Grand Slam

England's women matched their male counterparts in making it four wins from four Six Nations games on Saturday.

The world champions were 20-13 winners over Wales at the Stoop, picking up the Triple Crowd trophy in the process.

And, just like Eddie Jones' men, they will complete the Grand Slam if they win in France next weekend.

England were on top throughout and went in front through Ceri Large's try, the centre going in on the back of a driving maul.

Amber Reed tagged on the extras and then linked up with Large again, offloading for the Worcester player to break and score her second try.

Robyn Wilkins' penalty got Wales on the board and then Alisha Butchers crossed after Wilkins' intercept to make a game of it.

However, two Reed penalties got England through.

"That was a proper test match - England v Wales is always going to be tough," said England coach Scott Bemand.

"They came on the back of a good result against France, full of confidence and we knew they would be hard to break down.

"At times we made it a little bit tricky for ourselves but the character of this group continues to show, they keep evolving, and we have given ourselves the opportunity to go to France and try to win the Grand Slam."
