Glasgow Warriors have retained flanker Callum Gibbins as the skipper of the club for the upcoming Pro 14 clash against Cardiff Blues despite the return of regular captain Ryan Wilson.

Gibbins took over the reins of the team when Wilson was on the national duty for Scotland but Warriors head coach Dave Rennie wants the 29-year-old to continue with the leadership role for the Saturday's encounter.

"Ryan can come back and just focus on his role. He'll captain the side from next week onwards but Cully has done a good job with the Scotland boys away and we want to keep driving the development of other leaders," said Rennie.

Apart from Wilson, Henry Pyrgos, Peter Horne, and Alex Dunbar also return to the Glasgow side following the autumn internationals while Jamie Bhatti and Fiji's Niko Matawalu are on the bench after their international exploits.

Fullback Stuart Hogg will continue his rehabilitation from the hip injury that forced him to miss Scotland's 53-24 victorious clash against Australia last weekend.

With nine wins from as many games, Glasgow Warriors top Conference A with a 12 point lead over second placed Munster.
