Northampton centre Luther Burrell may be ruled out of England's autumn internationals after picking up a hand injury during his side's European Champions Cup victory over the Ospreys.

Burrell left the field in the 43rd minute of the clash, which the Saints went on to win 34-6, and he will now have an x-ray to assess the severity of the injury.

"Luther has banged his hand. It's very sore and he's struggling to grip. He'll have to go for an X-ray on that," Northampton director of rugby Jim Mallinder said.

"He gave it a chance and put some tape on at half-time. Fingers crossed there's no permanent damage.

"It could be anything - it was a bone in his hand."

The news is unwelcome for head coach Stuart Lancaster, who has already lost Manu Tuilagi with a groin injury and Bath centre Kyle Eastmond is struggling with a rib injury.

England play Australia, New Zealand, Samoa and South Africa at Twickenham next month.
