Worcester Warriors 24-25 Brive, Sixways
Scorecard

Andy Short's last minute try was not enough for Worcester Warriors as they were beaten by Brive in a close 24-25 encounter in the European Challenge Cup game at Sixways on Saturday.

Taku Ngwenya started the proceedings with an early try for Brive in the third minute while a conversion and a penalty from fly-half Thomas Laranjeira took the visitors to a 10-0 lead.

Worcester Warriors were awarded a penalty try in the 27th minute and with Tom Heathcote's conversion, they brought down the gap to three points at half time.

A penalty from Heathcote in the second half helped Worcester Warriors level the scores and they soon took the lead when England international Ben Te'o scored a try on his comeback game. Replacement fly-half Jamie Shillcock's conversion meant, Carl Hogg's men moved to seven-point lead.

However, the momentum was once again shifted when flanker Said Hireche strolled across the posts and a penalty from Nicolas Bezy brought Brive back into the lead by a marginal one-point.

Despite, being down to 14-men when lock Jan Uys was sin-binned in the 70th minute, Brive pushed on through Thomas Acquier's touchdown and Brive looked comfortable with an eight point lead at the closing stages.

Even though Short crossed over in the 80th minute and Shillcock successfully added two points, Brive held their nerve and ensured they gained a crucial win by just one-point.
