Bristol Rugby kept their chances of making it to the quarter-final in the ongoing European Rugby Challenge Cup alive after they went on to trounce RC Enisei 9-65 at Yug Stadium on Saturday.

They now move to second position in Pool 4 and will face the same opponent again in the final round while RC Enisei are out of contention after losing all five games.

In an eventful first half, RC Enisei got to a poor start with a sin-bin to Denis Simplikevich in the ninth minute while their only points before the break came with three penalties from Ramil Gaisin that remained their final points also.

Piers O' Connor (5'), Joe Joyce (14'), Nick Fenton-Wells (21'), Nick Haining (35') and Matt Protheroe (40') scored first half tries for the visitors as they raced to 27 points.

As the home side fail to score any point in the second half, Bristol amassed further touchdowns from Jake Armstrong (52'), Fenton-Wells (54' and 72'), Sam Graham (59'), Tom Pincus (63') and O'Connor (77') to complete a 9-65 victory.
