The home win completed a week to forget for leaders Leinster, who were knocked out of the Heineken Cup by Toulon on Sunday.

They had battled back to 19-19 with 10 minutes to go only for Biggar to land a drop goal and a penalty to seal victory for the Ospreys.

The win is a vital one for Ospreys as they look for a late-season push to guarantee a play-off place.

Leinster began the evening with a five-point lead over Irish rivals Munster but could only pick up a losing bonus point.

They rested Brian O'Driscoll and Ospreys were without scrum-half Rhys Webb and hooker Richard Hibbard who are both doubts for Wales' summer tour to South Africa having recently undergone knee and shoulder surgery respectively.

Leinster looked the better team in the early stages, taking a 3-0 lead through fly-half Jimmy Gopperth on the 10-minute mark.

Ospreys hit back with Biggar landing two cheap penalties, one when scrum-half Isaac Boss was blown up for obstruction.

Ospreys then marched into a 13-3 lead when wing Jeff Hassler scored in the right corner and Biggar converted.

Just two minutes before the break, Leinster reduced the arrears as they charged over following a lineout to score through Cian Healy and Gopperth converted.

In the second half, Biggar scored penalties on 43 and 49 minutes to put them nine points clear at 19-10.

Leinster worked their way back into the game, however, as Gopperth scored three penalties to level the scores to set up a frantic finale.

Biggar was set up for a drop goal from the Leinster 22 and he nailed his kick, following it up with a penalty in the 78th minute to put the seal on an important win.
