Scorecard

Charlie Shiel kicked a double including a last minute try as Scotland overcame Harrison Goddard's brilliance to seal a 24-17 win at Avchala Stadium on Sunday and claimed the fifth position in U20 Championship 2017 tournament.

After the first quarter went without a point, Goddard, who was lone point scorer in the game for Australia scored a converted try and followed it with a penalty to take them to a 10 point lead.

Scotland finally managed to get off the mark when Connor Eastgate kicked a penalty at the stroke of half time but they trailed by seven points heading into half time.

Scotland looked relentless in the second when winger Robbie Nairn (47') and Shiel strolled past the post while Eastgate's double conversion helped them secure a 17-10 lead before Goddard once again bounced back with his second converted try to level the scores.

As the game was heading for a tight finish, replacement Shiel scored his second try in the 80th minute while Eastgate's conversion completed a seven point win for Scotland.
