Worcester Warriors' Cornell du Preez to remain in hospital for four weeks

Worcester Warriors loose forward Cornell du Preez will remain in hospital for four weeks following a surgery on his throat.

The 27-year-old sustained the injury during the season opening Gallagher Premiership clash against Wasps earlier this month and has underwent a surgery.

Worcester Warriors director of rugby Alan Solomons confirmed the news on the Scotland international and wished him good luck on his rehabilitation period.

"Cornell is making good progress and is receiving the best treatment in hospital.

"Everyone at the club sends him their best wishes and we will continue to support him at this difficult time.

"We wish him a speedy recovery."

Du Preez made a switch from Edinburgh to Worcester Warriors ahead of the 2018/19 season.

Worcester Warriors are currently positioned 11th in the Gallagher Premiership table after losing both their opening games until now and will host Newcastle Falcons next at Sixways Stadium on 15th September.
