Worcester Warriors have confirmed that rugby director Gary Gold will exit the Aviva Premiership club at the end of the ongoing season.

The decision follows after the 50-year-old has been chosen as the new head coach of the USA - a role he will take over after the expiry of his contract with the Sixways unit in May next year.

Gold, who has previously worked as an assistant coach of South Africa is hoping to lay a solid foundation for the Warriors before his exit.

"I would like to thank the board for understanding my decision to accept the opportunity to coach at international level," Gold said.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Sixways and my focus will remain on Warriors until the end of the season, where I hope to leave the club in a strong place to ensure it can be successful in the long-term."

Worcester Warriors had a tough season until now in the Aviva Premiership where they are at the bottom of the table after securing a solitary losing bonus point and are set to take on Bath Rugby in their next encounter at Recreation Ground on 7th October.
