Wasps will be hoping for Australia international Kurtley Beale to be fit in time for the Aviva Premiership final against Exeter Chiefs at Twickenham Stadium on Saturday.

Beale was forced to leave the field in the 48th minute of the semi-final clash against Leicester Tigers which Wasps went on to win 21-20 at Ricoh Arena last weekend.

The 28-year-old will undergo a fitness test on Wednesday and he will be desperately hoping to play on what will be his final appearance for the Aviva Premiership club as he returns back to Australia in a bid to resume his international career.

"It's a hamstring injury which you've got to rest for 24 to 28 hours to see how it responds, so we'll have a better picture come Wednesday really," said Wasps rugby director Young.

"We've got our fingers crossed. He'll have to go some to get fit really, but we'll give it the best shot.

"It's a strain at this moment in time, we're having him scanned today but that's precaution more than anything.

"He's got decent movement in it, although he's not going to run too quickly at this moment obviously.

"But the next couple of days will tell us whether he's a realistic option or not."

Young also expressed delight on James Haskell receiving a call up to the Lions squad after Billy Vunipola pulled out of the upcoming New Zealand tour with a shoulder injury.

"I'm delighted for him, I think to finish his career and not to be a Lion would have been a real shame," said Young Haskell's first Lions call.

"By his own admission he's not firing at 100 per cent yet, but he's getting better every game.

"He's got a bit of time to go for the Tests as well.

"So I'm sure come the Tests he'll be trying to push himself up there to get a crack at it.

"I'm sure he's overjoyed, but he's so professional all he's been saying is that he's focusing on this week.

"You certainly need characters on a Lions tour, people who don't get too down about things. I think he'll be an excellent tourist.

"There's lots of times you need boys to drag things together, have a little bit of fun and a positive mentality.

"That's what Haskell will always do, he's always happy to entertain the group and that's important on trips like that.

"And it can't be artificial, you've got to have that nature about yourself, but then switch straight on for training and games.

"He keeps everyone laughing here all the time - at him, not with him!

"He's a real good person, he's great for the environment and he'll do a fantastic job on and off the field."
