Scorecard

Wasps have regained their second position in the table after they defeated Worcester Warriors by 12-26 in their Aviva Premiership clash at Sixways on Sunday.

The injury woes continued for Dai Young's men as Danny Cipriani was withdrawn late before the game due to a calf injury.

Centre Brendan Macken gave a head start to Wasps with a try in the first minute of play and fly half Rob Miller added the conversion.

The rest of the first half saw Worcester Warriors fly-half Jamie Shillcock and his counterpart Miller adding four penalties each for their respective teams as Wasps took a seven-point lead heading into the half time.

Scrum-half Dan Robson's heroics in the second half helped Wasps score their second try in the game with Miller adding another conversion.

Even though, Worcester Warriors failed to add any point in the second half, they came close to secure a losing bonus point when Alafoti Faosiliva crossed over, but was denied after referee declared a forward pass from Wynand Olivier.

The 24-point defeat meant Worcester Warriors continue to remain at 11th.

Wasps rugby director Young credited the players for taking opportunities in the absence of regulars and lauded Miller for his efforts after Cipriani's late withdrawal.

"There were a lot of new faces and boys who had been waiting for opportunities and I am really proud of the effort.

"You don't win anything with 15 or 23 players, it is a whole squad effort. We have a massive injury list at the moment and that is where a squad comes to the fore.

"I thought Rob Miller was outstanding. Danny went down in the last minute of the team run (on Saturday), and Rob had a very good game organising us.

"I thought it was a fantastic win for us. For me, this has to be up there with one of the best wins we've had this year."
