Wasps boss Dai Young refused to blame on the error made by Springboks winger Willie Le Roux for the 32-17 defeat to Leinster in the European Champions Cup quarter-final at Aviva Stadium on Saturday.

The 27-year-old had a chance to cross over for Wasps in the 24th minute but lost control of the ball. As a result Leinster came up with a dominant performance in the final 10 minutes of the first half with Jack Conan and Robbie Henshaw going past the line to claim a 22-3 lead at half time for Stuart Lancaster's men.

Young refused to single out that particular incident as the reason for defeat but instead admitted that Wasps were outplayed by Leinster for the majority of the game.

"Willie, obviously, it's going to be well documented... If he had put that ball down, we could have been 10-8 up. We would have been pretty pleased with that, because we were under pressure," Young said.

"I think it may have calmed us down a little bit, but I know a lot of people will point to that as a turning factor. It certainly didn't help us, but I'm not saying it was a turning factor because we had 55 minutes to play. We had plenty of time to turn that around."

Even though Christian Wade and Jimmy Gopperth scored tries for Wasps in the second half, they lost the encounter by 15 points which also ended their campaign in the European Champions Cup.
