Wales centre Jonathan Davies is set to be sidelined for up to six months following a foot injury that he sustained in the autumn international opener against Australia at Principality Stadium on Saturday.

The 29-year-old suffered the blow during the closing stages of the game when he was tackled by Australia wing Marika Koroibete and will now undergo a lengthy rehabilitation period that will keep him out of the Six Nations 2018 tournament as well.

A statement released by the Welsh Rugby Union confirmed the news on Davies.

"Wales centre Jonathan Davies will undergo surgery to his foot following the injury sustained against Australia in the Under Armour Series on Saturday at Principality Stadium.

"It is envisaged that recovery will be in the region of six months.

"The 29-year-old Scarlet sustained the damage during the final minute of Wales' 29-21 defeat to the Wallabies in the opening game of the autumn series.

"Experienced Wales and Harlequins centre Jamie Roberts has been added to the squad, along with prop Scott Andrews."

Davies was earlier voted player of the series by his British and Irish Lions' team-mates during the recently concluded tour of New Zealand.

Wales head coach Warren Gatland has added Harlequins centre Jamie Roberts to the squad ahead of the game against Georgia.
