Wales managed to hold on to their nerve as they completed a 14-13 win over France in the final round of the Six Nations Championship at Principality Stadium.

As a result, Wales finished second in the table with 15 points while France slip to the fourth position.

The visitors got their first points on the board when Francois Trinh-Duc kicked a drop goal in the third minute but the fly-half turned from hero to villain when he allowed Wales to breach France's defence. Scott Williams sent through a teasing kick which Liam Williams capitalised and scored the opening try.

Halfpenny missed out on the conversion but made amends with back to back penalties to take the scoreline to 11-3. Winger Gael Fickou provided respite to the visitors when he dived past the line in the 20th minute that was improved by Maxime Machenaud as they reduced the arrears to one point.

Halfpenny kicked his third penalty in the 31st minute to increase Wales' lead to four points which could have been down to one point again had Machenaud not missed a penalty kick at the stroke of half time.

France started the second half well with the scrum-half kicking his first penalty to bring down the gap back to one point. They had the game after they were awarded another penalty but Trinh-Duc missed a straightforward chance as Wales escaped with a 14-13 win.
