Wales international Ellis Jenkins has been sidelined for a minimum of 12 weeks after sustaining a hamstring injury.

The 24-year-old suffered the blow while representing his club Cardiff Blues during the pre-season clash against Exeter Chiefs in August.

Cardiff Blues have confirmed that Jenkins has undergone a surgery on his hamstring and is expected to return to action between three to four months.

"He will now begin an extensive rehabilitation programme, with an estimated return to action in 12-16 weeks," read a statement released by the Blues.

Jenkins made his debut with the Blues in 2011 and has been an integral part of the team since then. His first appearance for Wales came in June last year and has played five Tests until now.
